HELP! What size socket to remove rear shock bolt?
To my horror I discovered none of my sockets fit the lower shock bolt. I don't have a car, but I can call my friend to go to Home Depot to buy the socket.
Using one of my smaller sockets I guess-timate it's 22 or 23 mm? Any help appreciated. Thank you.

I believe it's 22 and a 15/16 will probably work.
I'm out of town so I can't loan one to you!

It is a 22mm which translates to a 7/8" if you have one of those.
If you have a jack that you can put under the banana arm to release the preload it will make it a bit easier to loosen and a lot easier to put back on.

22mm and use a socket that fits snug - you don't want to round off the corners on these bolts - they are a b**ch to crack loose, even with the right tools. Hit them with PB Blaster, let 'em sit overnight, use a 1/2" breaker bar and an assortment of grunts/expletives. Worst fastener yet on the P-car.

22mm and if you have an impact wrench, it's 2.5 seconds

Make sure the socket is a 22 mm, 6-point, impact-rated socket ... and it can be used to change the front struts, too!

If you find a single 22mm impact socket, let me know where. I have only seen them in expensive sets, $75 and up.

"shortie" impact socket was what it took for me...the normal length ( 3" or so) just laughed at me trying to get the bolt off...
( the shortie twists less and imparts more of the torque impact to the bolt).... - Wil
