the details are at packracingproducts.com

They are not fikse's but they dont cost like that either. I am going to do a set of the 16s when they get here. He said he will have 3 piece 17s later in the year. They will be much more expensive.

I thought Superlites were made in the UK.

Minilites are made in the UK. I've been lusting after a set for some time now. These look quite similar, and are certainly priced right. I think these would look great on an early car, and would provide a unique look in the sea of Fuchs out there. I'll have to check out the web site.

Superlite Wheels

I just wanted to address a few issues brought up. First, these are not made in the UK, they are Australian made. Made by Performance Industries. All the wheels are cast and heat treated. Their website is www.superlitewheels.com. Superlite in the UK does not make anything, he purchases, re-labels and markets. Some of his wheel come from Australia, some from China, etc.

Since our wheels are Australian made they meet AS1638, thier testing standard which dictates a very high load rating. Due to that they are 19 and 20lbs per wheel. We are in the testing cycle on wheels that are lighter and have a lower load rating, yet enough for race and road applaictions here. They should weigh 5 lbs less. The wheels I currently have are intended for classic street car use. 16x7's and 16x8's are in process and will be in AZ late March/early April. 16x10's available by mid year. We offer three colors witha nd without a machined lip, primered ready for a custom color and I am getting a sample of a shot peened and clear coated wheel, this finish looks great in the pics sent to me. Can't wait to see it.

I welcome input, questions, etc.

What are the backspacing specs on the 16x7 and 8's?

I wonder if we could squeeeeeze the 8 under the 77's rear fender...

Hmm, What do you guys think? Do you think a 225/50-16 will fit in the back of a mid year? Which backspacing would be best?

4.41 = 112mm (roughly) the same as the 951 7"
4.91 = 125mm (roughly)
5.31 = 135mm (roughly)

Maybe the 4.91 would push enough to the inside?

Are you guys going to be trying some test fits with different combos to give us Pelicanites with cold, hard cash just burning holes in our pockets a looksee?

I know I am interested!!

Mike

...we are, or at least close to "scholared." So how do these stand up against Fuchs, which are magnesium? I'm just saying it'd take a hell of a nice wheel to make me replace my Fuchs.

And you'll have them in 17x8, 9, 10 as well as as small as 15x6,7,8,9, etc.

Thanks.

The Aussi site doesn't seem to work.

David, the Fuchs wheels are spun forged aluminum.

Pack Racing: the real challenge will be to get an 8" wide rim with enough back spacing to work on the front of a narrow body 911. Back spacing for an 8" rim has been a gadfly on my arse for a long time with lower costing wheels.

Later ones, I thought, were spun from aluminum. Or maybe I'm thinking of gas burners as being made of magnesium. But yes, I do know they're forged, not cast.

I think you'd have a real market if there were some 15x7's available with closer to a 130mm (5-1/8") backspace. Have you seen the price of 911R rims? This would allow us early, narrow body guys to run a 225/50/15 in the back cleanly. I realize that there are some that are able to run a 225/50 on a standard 15x7 Fuchs, but I'm pretty sure a bunch of negative camber is required for this setup.

Make a 15x7 with a 911R type offset, and I bet you'd sell a crap load. I'm actually quite surprised that nobody has done it yet.

Even better would be a 15x7.5, to make the most out of those 225/50's. The same backspacing should work, I'd guess.

Jim
