Can I use a VW master cylinder?

Well, I blew the MC in my 71S and I don't like the price of the new ones. I recently bought a Baja Bug, and I was looking at VW parts and came across their master cylinders. Dual circuit, 19mm, they look exactly the same as Porsche ones except for where the lines from the reservoir come in. They start at 25 bucks for the Brazilian ones and $109 for ATE ones, thats a huge difference in price. Anybody know if these would work?

Thanks
Kevin

Might be worth a try for $25 bucks.

My Dad got screwed with a Brazillain dizzy for his 356. It was a real turd and fell to pecies.

At one time, when MC's were just a little over a hundred bucks, it didn't make a whole lot of sense to rebuild an old one since the kits were $70. Well, the kits are still 70. How's the bore on your M/C? If it will hone, the new seal will work perfectly. If it's pitted that badly (not likely, if you were driving the car), then it's toast.

BUT, before you give up contact Goldline Brakes and ask if they can bore a pitted M/C. Hey, a 20mm M/C would be cool!

Do not buy the Brazilian one. Brazilian parts are junk,
