front valance pics and questions

how many of you guys have the F/G front valance on your cars. The 935 style ones? How bad is it coming in and out of driveways when you hit it? Cracks or just scrapes. Do you wish you can go back to orignal. I gotta to decide soon. How about some pics? Thanks

Jeff

Jeff.. even a stock valence can scrape. Use that as a guideline.

small hijack

If anybody knows of a somewhat stock looking FG ft valence that has more of a spoiler affect than stock please post some info. Clearance to road not an issue.. thx

I'm not sure what you're looking for or the reason behind your question, but I can tell you that after a lot of research I decided to modify the existing 930 front valance to accomodate a Setrab oil cooler. All aftermarket front valances look "added" to me. It took me a little work and a local body shop; as a result, I'm maintaining the original front rubber lip and car lines reducing oil temps by 30*.

Hi Miguel

I've followed some of your posts and grabbed 2 pics that I tweaked.

my issue is using a low key front valence that hopefully has more of a spoiler affect than stock so I would not have to use the SC/Carrera rubber spoiler with a rear C2 elec spoiler. If such an animal exists there is a small 1.5 inch plastic spoiler that could be used. The small spoiler doesn't extend past the valence into the sides.

I already have the SC/Carrera spoiler so not trying to save any $.

thx

I have this on my car:

It does scrape in places where the factory valance (with the rubber lip) did not. I needed to install a central oil cooler to fix heat issues at the track, so going back to stock is not an option.

sjanes....... That's a great looking valence.

I have no need for a front cooler hole of fog holes.. and I figure the less holes in the valence the better it will perform its spoiler affect. I could be wrong..

If I had something that was closer to the body, more tucked under the bumper, I'd buy something like that even if I had to glass the holes closed.

Right now I have GeorgeM's custom tin valence that he modded for a front oil coller and brake air ducts. It's a great looking stock unit but it has the holes and is too far forward. I'd ruin it if I glassed the holes and it sits out too far.

this is it.

Your idea of a non fog SC w/ the rubber SC lip was a good one, why not go that way?

f/g or p/u valances wil be a little lighter, but you have to do the whole bumper cap to save meaningful weight.

Other than that, the Ruf p/u valance has the lip integral w/ it, I believe that BW and maybe Souks new out fit sell replicas of them, maybe Wayne too.

Hi Bill

so far that's what I'm going to do. Then someone mentioned that maybe I could find a somewhat stock looking one that has more spoiler effect designed into it.

Then look 171 started a valence thread and I couldn't resist. I didn't want to waste more of anybody's time on my valence thread..
thx for the reply.

I need it. I smacked the front of my 930 into the curb. Just need to know if the f/g ones crack when scrape against steep driveways like mine. My original ones do scrape because my car is lowered. I see too many kids with their Hondas running around the street with pieces of f/g valance broken, hanging all over the place. The cooler is not an issue. I am getting a 2nd cooler in the driver side fender with a fan. TRE is doing all of the work, so I am not concern. I just have to decide what to do. Any feed back is welcolm, even if you guys are ripping off this thread, I ok with that.

By the way, thanks for the photos. That brown 930 is really nice with the way the hole is cut for the nose cooler.

SJAMES, I love your car's stance.

Look171, here is another picture - after the car was lowered - using SJAMES same photo angle, for you to compare.

Ron, sorry to respond so late.

Frere sez that the 72S reduced lift to balance the duck and the 73RS with the oil cooler hole reduced it even more.

For your shorthood, certainly the IROC or the IROC with splitter will get the job done, but any splitter will overwhelm the 964 electric spoiler instantly. If you are going splitter you need a minumum of a Carrera tail, IROC would be better, and looking like a Hooker is not an element of your profile.

The best blend of lift reduction and low aero drag is the Ruf, and that is what I recommend. If I had a shorthood that's what I would use, hands down. Bill V has it right on his.

Miquel, Easily the best looking brown car I have EVER seen. Big Congrats. What a nice, nice car. Excellent stance, the whole look is great. Love the C3 headlight washers, the valence, the black Fuchs - which I ordinarily am not a fan of (what sizes are they?) the whole look is very nice.
