New Mod suggestions for my SC

I just recently installed a factory stock 965 turbo eng and g50 in my stock appearing 1982 sc. Im looking to lighten the car to around 2400 lbs or less(currently around 2600lbs). I have no past experience with aftermarket lightweight body parts and would like some pro`s and cons about them.
I will be driving the car 20 miles a day in all weather except snow.
I have already purchased a F/G stock replica rear bumper(not on yet). Removed all A/C components , installed a wevo battery setup, removed all sound deadening material and removed the spare and jack.
I just ordered a modded fuel dist from imagine auto and will be turning the boost from .7 bar to 1 bar soon.
What else should I do thats worth while ?

BTW this car flys. I have beaten 2 different ZO6 vettes. One was the new 06 model.

very nice, love the wheels! What are your plans with the car? Are you going to track it?

Yes about 45lbs each . I picked them up in a package deal last year and since they matched the interior and are full power with heat I got excited and dropped them in. They are actually brand new from Porsche. They were never installed until last month.
I will consider swapping in lightweight seats but want to keep it as stock looking as possible and they must be tan. Any suggestions ? Im sure I can get at least $1500 for them. But what would be better suited while keeping the sleeper look ?

Front Seat replacement and front bumper are the obvious ones. Then other stuff like back seat and shelf, Lightweight panels etc. All comes down to how much you want to spend. There are numerious threads on this topic.

The engine came from Brumos Porsche and was intended to be used for the 92` racing season. The 3.6 became available to them that year and this engine sat on the shelf since. The engine is factory new and with proper/mild mods should give me 100k miles of 400hp useage. The tranny is a 89 carrera G50 unit shortened by Patrick Motorsports back in 1994 on an 11k mile perfect core . It has only just been installed last month for the first time. Im figuring that should go 100k miles as well.
I plan to street drive the $hit out of it. I dont have time to race due to work and very young kids(3). But if I did it would be with one of my early cars anyway.
I drive 20 miles round trip everyday. 15 miles of it is open hiway
with a few stop lights. The rest is curvy narrow roads.

BTW the radio/speakers are getting removed next week. I have no use for those. If I had no kids the entire back seat would go too.

What im really after in this thread is to hear reviews from first hand users of fiberglass and carbon fiber as to fitment/brands and reliability. The seats will go if I can find a subtle looking light pair in tan. Otherwise the stock appearance will be altered and thats what I want to avoid.

Once I establish which body parts are getting replaced I will paint them all at the same time.

Forgot to mention that I also removed the brake booster in favor of a non booster Fabcar dual master setup. That saved about 5-7 lbs. Not much but it adds up I suppose.
I did the Wevo battery swap today. That saved 16 lbs overall. And put the weight behind the front wheels(smugglers box).

What about lexan rear glass and quater windows ? Worth it on an all out street driven car ? Do they scratch to easily ? Water leak problems ?

Kurt:
That car is too nice to gut any further. You could probably get down about another 100 lb wih FG stuff. I have no experience with the FG, but when I go to the track next weekend, I'll ask around about what's the best fit, etc.

Thanks Pat. You know my true love is with the 65-73` cars. I dont mind cutting up an SC . There are too many out there anyway. If I go with a full glass nose I may backdate the car as well. So much for the new 78-89 f/b rear bumper I just bought. But maybe not. The sc look aint so bad either. Im still very undecided on where this is going. Thats the reason for this post.

When you say replica bumper, I assume you mean the bumper blades or "caps" and not the whole fiberglass bumper/valance. I have both the front and rear, but not installed them yet. I don't know if I will, actually, and here's why:

I've heard there's very little weight difference between the f/g blades and the stock aluminum bumpers. That where the real weight loss is gained is in the valance/bumper assembly, not just the bumper. Now, if you were to go that route - yes, it will no longer look like a sleeper - but you will, IIRC, save between 75 and 100 pounds. Bumpers alone will get you, IIRC, 15 pounds saving per end, which is nothing to sneeze at.

I have an f/g ducktail, and it's held up very well to very bad, cracked and pitted Hollywood roads. The paint is very good, but that has to do with the prep work on the tail itself. Kevin at Automotive Innovations (KevinP73) did the install.

So if you are or you know a good body man, I'd do the bumpers, find an f/g engine lid if there is such a thing, and an f/g front hood. And if you dare, f/g doors, but keep the OEM interior panels, which aren't too heavy. One more, cut the fenders off and replace with stock-style f/g. All of this is doable but with losts of $$$.

I'd avoid carbon fiber. With the weaving of layers, carbon fiber looks nasty, even if painted. I wouldn't do that unless the entire car has that weave pattern.

I would go either IROC or ruf all around. I currently can't decide which I like more. But both look so much nicer and cleaner than stock sc or carrera. Plus you would bennifit from the additional cooling in the oil cooler department. The wing should go. I personaly would do carrera tail(not snap on wing). I hope you don't mind my fantacizing session.
I would add carrera decals in black on the side to tie in the black wheels. Did you see teo's car? Hows your budget? Sky's the limit. I wouldn't worry about removing much more weight till your engine budget is tapped. Have fun.

Yeah - that wing is hideous. Go with whatever came with the SC and/or (late) Carrera.

Hi Kurt,

I had a set of MA Shaw FG parts installed on my '80 SC. I bought IROC front and rear bumpers and a ducktail. Allpieces fit very well out of the box with very minor tweaking. The FG parts are very sturdy and well made.

I'm very happy with the outcome.

To be a real sleeper you need to go without a tail...

I dont like the tail either. I have a factory turbo te tray spoiler but it looks even worse than the one im using because I dont have(or want) turbo flares.
Im open to suggestions on a nicer spoiler. But keep in mind that the 965 intercooler is quite large. I wish I could put a flat decklid on it.
