Cleveland, Ohio Area Repair Shops
Can anyone make a recommendation on repair facilities in the greater Cleveland area? It is my understanding that Steinel's Autowerks has a good reputation but is pricey. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I think I am due for a mainshaft bearing replacement

Avoid Ed Pimm (EPR IMPORTSPECIALIST). He she messed up my car when th PO had it. I've posted pictures of his handy work in the past. I'd say that the work he did devalued my car by at least $5000.

Thanks for the reply. I am a new owner and am trying to get a handle on what constitutes a strnge sound with these cars. If there is anyone in the Hudson area who would have an interest in listening to my transmission before I take it to a shop I'd appreciate it. Clutch and TO bearing were replaced in 99. PPI did not come back with issues. However, there is definately some noise with the clutch out in neutral.

Steinels in Twinsburg has been the gold standard for independent Porsche shops in "roughly" that area. I know of a coupla guys from Buffalo, NY who go out of their way to go there.....
Stoddards, before it was sold was v.good too. Don't know how it is now. Wil

I highly recommend Steinel's. I just sent you a PM.

There's also Chris Moore (www.autobahnextremist.com). IIRC he used to be with Steinel's, then opened his own shop. But he's in Rocky River--quite a ways from Hudson.

Thanks for your responses. I am taking the car in to Steinels later this week. I hope that the PPI was not far off!
Doug, have not seen your car around town although I did see a couple of 964s yesterday. Also, your PM did not come through.

Doug - Welcome to the board and P-car ownership! Being a West side I have been a client of AutobahnExtremist in Rocky River for years, but have heard nothing but good things from the Steinels followers. Eric Steinel is a good guy and is active in many of the Porsche Club events. Once you hand out here long enough you will get the confidence to try anything - I am going to give an engine rebuild a try! There are plenty of NE Ohio guys on the board as well, to keep you from getting in a real jam! Have fun - Vance

Vance, thanks for the note. I like to tinker with my car but an engine drop is not something I am ready to tackle.....just yet!
