Nice '73 MFI 911T on ebay:

Apologies if this is a re-post, but I didn't see it here. This car is in just unbelievable and documented condition, and it did not sell/meet reserve so I thought I would give it a heads-up. No affiliation. There just can't be too many like it left in SoCal, w/ the giant sucking sound of them leaving on container ships. Enjoy:

Very nice but looks like they resprayed the gas tank in the car. Not a big deal but thought I'd mention it.

I really doubt it, w/ that restoration. What you are seeing is *light spots* in the coverage of the red which is how they came from the factory. They did not waste a lot of paint on the inside of the trunk, under the carpeted part.

Nice, but I have trouble with the idea of a $27,000 T, much less more than that.

A few short years ago I would have said the same thing, Randy, but haven't prices gone up quite a bit? I honestly don't know since I don't follow the market closely anymore.

I can imagine what it would cost to get a good car to great, including the price of the good car. (What this was). Imagine if this was an "S", $60k these days?

Frankly, I think the car could easily be resold at close to $40K. The buyer got a good deal, if everything is as indicated.

What else is out there at that price that's going to get the attention/have the cachet and is nearly immune to depreciation?

No way in hell that trunk spray is original...

Up, yes. Not that far up I think.

The pricing on an old car is immune to depreciation in the same way that pricing on tulip bulbs is. When it crashes, the decline is far too rapid to be called mere depreciation ...

It IS a pretty car, respray or no; price or no.

No way on the paint. The unibodies were painted before the tanks were installed. Nice try. And nice car, actually.

I don't think the factory painted the VIN number tags body color. The one in this car looks like the number was masked with Scotch tape.

According to the ebay add that car ended at "reserve not met". So, there is no good deal for anyone if that is accurate.

I whole heartedly agree with techweenie. That car is well worth $27,000 and a lot more. I know it all comes down to taste, but name another car for less than $40,000 that you would rather drive. I can't, unless its another 911.

Mike
