It is a slippery slope my friend and you are running ass over tea kettle down hill :) Have fun with it!

You've got a nice SC there, also. Looks really cool in all it's stages.

However, you can't please them all...

I've got a guy on VWVortex trying to admonish me (us) for starting out with a really nice, solid SC as a basis for a track/street car. To me (us), it makes sense because there is no rust to be repaired, no damage from a crash, nothing hacked up, etc etc. Our car was not hacked up in any way, shape or form when it was modified. We know what we have and we wouldn't do anything to screw it up.

Oh well...I guess some people will never be happy. We are not amongst those people:D

Thanks Mike, great minds think alike and we aren't the only ones. The galvanized cars can be exceptional buys to "build" your own dream 911. I suspect they are the cars that will see the most extreme make overs from back dating to long hood spec to up dated by adding a 993 body kit.

I mixed and matched a lot of parts and time frames. The very best of WEVO and Elephant kit in the suspension, Weidman wheels, a '95 3.6 with cams, '86 930 brakes, a WEVO short box tranny with the shifter bits and a completely new interior to go with the Glasurit paint and Eurotech body work. Didn't have to do any of it to the original unmolested SC. Over time it became a "want" thing which is way better than a "have to" thing in the Porsche world :)

Not to everyone's liking but there is no doubt it is my car. You guys will have a show piece and a work horse to be proud of when you are done.

^^

Thanks for the kind words.

Yeah, "want to" and "have to" sometimes get blurred so they begin to look like eachother. Funny how that happens ;)

That's 2 beers you have to buy, one for Dad and one for me.

And don't look at it as putting your car to shame, look at it as another source of inspiration.

the car came in at 2464lbs without a driver, a tick over 2600 with a driver. Not too bad, if you ask me :)

NIce! What size wheels are you running? 136# driver? My dog weights more than that :)

NY65912 08-19-2006 09:51 AM

Wheels are 16 x 7 & 16 x 8, just had a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 put on.......very nice.

Weight is 2650 ish with driver. I have not weighed 136 lbs since the day I was born.

What a difference a good corner balance makes!

Overall I am exceptionally happy and impressed with the car, it sure beats the heck out of my M491 in the handling department. But those 930 brakes stop like NOW.

Thanks to all for the very kind words.
