Are you talking about the two larger bolts on either end of the trans mount?
If so, they are easily replaced but you will need to extract what's left.
Maybe throw some pictures up for us. It's really isn't that big of a problem.
Where are you located? There's probably a Pelican in the neighborhood.

thanks for the fast input im running back and forth with my father in the garage with the updates

ok it is the 2 larger transmission bolts that go tru the mounting bracket and up into the frame

we found both bolts to be missing after we were having problems with the transmisson bucking and popping out of gear we were surprized to find what we did

we are concerned that the bolts might b rusted in so we dont want to rush it we want to make sure we do it right and the easy way

we are located in Peoria IL and got the car as a father son and son project and so far im having a blast this website and thread is great i appreciate all the help

Get a light and see if the bolts are indeed broken off. If they are just missing you can get replacements. Grade 8 hardware can be found at most large hardware stores or automotive suppliers. WE just need to figure out the specs. I don't know that right now.

You'll want to jack the engine/trans assembly up to get it back into the general mounting area. Right now, there is a lot of stress on the rear mounting points at the engine. It should only need be raised a couple of inches. I would suggest taking the trans mount off of the trans itself. There are four bolts that attach it to the trans.

we got replacment bolts and washers and they only thread in a couple of turns we got a mirror and looked up to find part of the bolt still in there...

we jacked up the tranny to take off the stress but if you raise it more than an inch or 2 the hole do not line up

but first we need to get the remains of the old bolt out

Hey that not far from Chi-town or Oswego, you're almost neighbor.

As nostatic would say where the pictures?

Newbie needs to post pictures of their car on this site.

I've seen a lot of those bolt holes stripped out. Even stripped out some myself. A TimeSert will fix them properly.

I'd also check the rear bolts, motor mounts and mounting crossbar. That 'hanging' tranny could have fatigued those parts as well. Good luck, and welcome! Sounds like a cool project.
