902 Trans.

Is the 901 trans. the same as a 902? I have a'68 S with tranny problems and I can't afford to rebuild my 901/2 so I bought a 902/1, will it work?

It is the same series/design. I believe that trans was used in the 912, but it may have been used in T's as well ... should fit, as far as bolting right up, but there may be differences in CV-joint flanges. Is your car equipped with Lobro's or Nadella's? That would be the only 'issue' I can think of.

Thanks S-Man, I believe the flange is the later type and they seem to look the same, I was concerned with a ratio difference. I think the serial # is 22/473.

The only difference between those transaxles is the 5th gear ratio, 0.793 (29:23) for the 901/02 and 0.857 (28:24) for the 902/01, pretty trivial change, actually!
