window mechanism

Does anyone have experience with the window mechanism on older 911s?

The problem with mine is that the window comes out of the slide that it's supposed to rest in. I can't tell if the rubber piece between the window and the slide is supposed to be attached to the slide or the window. I know I should take out the rubber piece, clean it, and put adhesive on one side and grease on the other, but I don't know which side to attach (to the window or the slide). Also, any suggestions as to the adhesive and grease I should use? This may be a question I could easily answer if I had the porsche manuals. I should be getting a set in the next week or two.

The rest of the window mechanism works fine.

I had a problem with mine rolling up, I just took everything apart, cleaned it put it back together and lubed it really good. Works fine now.

i've got the same problem..
in my 911sc 79 the windows was very heavy to move up or down. I tried grease..but no luck there.
so i will be fitting a new rubberseal this weekend.
i don't think the rubber has any adhesive on it at all..mine didn't.
and the grease should go between the rubber and glass

good luck
