Tea Tray grill attachment question

Hi all, a question regarding my tea tray grill.

I found a fastener floating around in my engine bay and traced it to the front of the tea tray grill (I think).

I tried to re-install it and it while it threads into the interior (engine facing) metal and then up through the grill, it doesn't seem to want to thread into the "body" of the tail. My other fasteners are missing.

This could just be me not having the grill and the "body" aligned correctly.

I'm just looking for some feedback regarding how the grill attaches and if the fastener I am using is correct, to ensure that I am on the right track in terms of sorting out this.

Note: I do have the plastic sealing piece that sits in front of the tray and I want to tighten the gap down with the correct fasteners to hold the plastic seal in place.

And, because pics are worth a thousand words, here they are:

Gap where the plastic seal is supposed to sit, putting pressure on the top, of the tray, will get it to sit flush with the decklid:

Interior of tea tray, showing mounting point for fastener (there are 4 of these), fastener should screw in the mount, up through the grill and (I assume) into the body of the tea tray.

Homeless fastener I found in the engine bay. This fastener does screw up into the "mounting point" shown in previous pic, but doesn't seem to want to go into the "body" of the tray. Is this due to my own personal error, or is it the wrong fastener?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Looks like you are missing the brackets (and maybe the whole cross bar is missing)

Thanks, Eastbay. I didn’t realize there were brackets. I did come up with a solution, but now that I am aware that I may be missing parts, I will revisit this project.
