Mechanical Injection

For all you early 911 owners: I stumbled across an outfit that rebuilds the early 911 MFI units. Name is Ingram Enterprises, website is www.wesingram.com (I was looking for side draft webers, no luck yet). Hope this info helps someone. I removed the MFI system from my '73T a few years back only because I could find no one that worked on them.

RarelyL8...
Are you looking for carbs for a 4 cylinder or a six?

I have a set of side draft webbers for a 4 cylinder that was on a racing turbo saab 99.

Paul

Actually, I'm putting together a supercharged six. Should end up with adjustable boost HP from 300 to 400. Today I found a couple of places that will custom build a pair of 48mm DCOE twins. I still have to do the math to see if the sizing is correct. I'm thinking 45mm may be enough. What size are yours? I'm not familliar with the Saab 99.

I am not exactly sure what size they are, and right now can't find out either. They are back at my house...which is 7 hours away. I won't be back there until the beginning of May.

Is the six cylinder that you are planning on running for a BMW? In other words, is it an inline six?

The Saab 99 was made in two versions. One was hatchback, the other was a coupe. I am not sure what the engine was like in that, but I do know that the non turbo engine was a 2.0L 105 hp engine. I may be going home some time sooner like within two or three weeks...which is getting to be close to May anyways, but if I do, I will find out for you.

Quick question, how do you find out the jetting on it? and other various sizes?

Paul

I have to admit I don't know much about Webers. Hood clearance restriction is the reason I'm looking into twin side drafts. I put a set of 40mm IDAs on my '73 911T 2.4L, jetted and tuned them, they really worked well. The jet sizes are stamped on the jets themselves. I don't know about venturi sizes - never messed with them. I really doubt if a set of carbs from a stock application is going to fit my needs but you never know, information is always valuable. Here's a number for you to call if you need info on side draft carbs: Fast Freddy's in Santa Anna, CA (800)821-2195 talk to Lee. They build carbs to order. I have also found a few restoration shops specializing in Webers, SUs, and Strombergs if you are interested. I always take my time with heavy mods and swaps, so let me know what you find out. Thanks

The application of the carbs was far from stock. The saab had been converted to a Pro Rally car. The guy that owned it was seriously into it. The reason why i got the carbs is that my father used to race with him, so he gave the car to us.

I am still curious as to what car you are putting these on. If the carbs are what you need and will work for you, then I will be more than happy to sell them to you. They are not doing much for me right now.

Anyways, I will find out what they are as soon as possible.

You may want to email me to remind me that I am supposed to check for you. I tend to forget about things if they aren't in the recent future.

Paul, thanks for the reply. I hesitate to mention the application because I don't want to get a rash of ***** from the purist crowd. It's a 930 turbo motor. I like turbos but I like superchargers more. This motor will shed 100 pounds and gain ~ 50HP from stock if I supercharge it using carburation instead of CIS, not to mention the increased simplicity and asthetics.
