SCs and Carerras best daily drivers?

I have my '73 911T project that I'm working on. It's currently motorless, so obviously I haven't driven it yet. But, I have driven my (now defunct) '79 SC for a couple years.

I've continually read how the SC and later 911s make the best "daily drivers" of the 911s. Having no real experience with the long hood cars, I don't really understand makes the SC and Carerra better suited to daily driving. I was hoping to get some insight from the group so as I build up my early car I can perhaps rectify some of these issues. In looking at the SC vs. the 911T, I don't really see a ton of '"creature comforts" that make the SC vastly superior (particulary given the weight penalty).

In particular, I've been watching Doug's saga in selling the Lump and getting the SC. Doug, what we the key motivators in moving from the T to the SC?

As background, the plan is to put my SC motor into the 911T, put on the SC rear flares and go with fiberglass fenders, bumpers, etc. Prior to the SC, I daily drove my turbocharged track rat Miata that had no power steering or brakes, manual windows and no AC.

And, knowing that anything on post is worthless w/o pics, here's the project car:

For me, I would think rust protection is a big thing for a car that will be driven in the rain. As you probably know, the SC and Carrera were galvanized and less prone to rust. The other thing to consider is that parts for SCs and Carreras are more plentiful, so if damage occurs they're easier to fix. Oh, and boosted brakes would be nice for a daily driver.

I think one more thing to add as a benifit for the Carrera engine, was the updated chain tensioners. The SC's had good solid engines, but were prone to tensioner failure. The Carrera engine corrected this. That's my .02.

a lot of it is the FI systems that start easily even when very cold

and, yes, they are as rust-proof as cars could be made until recently

they also have much more torque

stronger bumpers to fend off idiots that park by feel...

and are cheap enough that you don't lose as much when some inattentive, cell-phone using, newspaper-reading, fast-food mouth-craming jerk swerves into you
