Anyone have a good source for a custom flywheel?
 

Well the mystery of my Ruf pressure plate may be coming to a close. For those that have not followed this exciting tale....I am fitting a G50 6 speed to my '89 chassis, intent is to cut down the 6 speed in the same way that people who fit the 5 speed G50's to the earlier chassis.

I have a new aluminium Ruf pressure plate that would be wonderful, is supposed to fit Turbo flywheels and it definitely fits the 240 mm clutch discs. Problem is, every flywheel I try to fit does not fit, basically with the problem as shown in this picture

Latest attempt through Pelican (just took delivery of a '81 Turbo flywheel) shows that the flywheel I need is the '75 to '77 Turbo, but the problem there is that it is a 6 bolt flywheel and I need a 9 bolt to match my crankshaft.

Is there anyone out there that can custom machine me a flywheel exactly the same as the '75-'77 Turbo but put in 9 bolt holes? I would rather have a steel flywheel (hear there are issues with aluminium flywheels)....

I'd like to know as well, but not for a pcar, for a piece of British trash.

Well I have a lathe large enough but now way to properly balance it. Why not modify a turbo flywheel by welding up the existing holes and redrilling to match what you need? This would be pretty straight forward and a lot less trouble than building a complete flywheel. The trouble is there are at least several setups involved and all need to be very precise, then it needs to be sent out to have the fricticion surface ground as well as balanced. I could static balance with a bubble level but my guess if flywheels are dynamically balanced.

Properly Tig welded and remachined would be far less expensive.

Patrick & Kennedy both do similar conversion flywheels for crazy people like me who put 901 transmissions on 3.2L & newer engines. THey can probably accomodate you.
