Does anyone know where you can access production numbers for a Porsche 911's given the vehicle year and specifics? (i.e 1986 targa turbo look)

Hey Brian,
Do these numbers represent all targas for 1986 or just "Turbo Look" targas for 1986? I am attempting to find the number for the Turbo Look ones for 1986. Trying to decide whether I am better off to keep mine stock or modify. I was told that the factory "Turbo Look" Targas for 1986 were very rare.
Thanks
Larry T

I managed to obtain the production numbers for Turbo Look (option code 491) for Coupes, Targas and Cabs from another source for the years 1984 - 1989. If anyone is of interest let me know.

It's been posted before here or on Rennlist. A letter from PCNA:

This is a quote from Bruce Anderson in his Excellence Porsche Market Update.
''One specialty version of the 911 Carrera 3.2 was the Turbo-look,which resembles the 911 Turbo in appearance (but not performance). It was introduced in 1984 in Coupe version only, and then built as a Coupe, Targa, and Cabriolet from 1985 through 1989. The Turbo-look package added about $10,000 to the price in its first year and then increased to about $14,000 by 1989. Turbo-look Cabriolets are rare and can command a premium in some markets." You may find production numbers in the Q&A threads at the PCA site.

This is a great book, I refer to it often. Has everything including production #'s for each year and model, options available for each year, paint codes, how to read VIN #'s, etc.... I think it may even have performance spec's for each vehicle (yet i'd have to double check ...my book is at home and I am at work right now).

This is a great book, and very interesting to pick up and look through.

I believe those are numbers for cars sold in North America only.

Lest we be thought chauvinistic, the number of ROW M491 cars (called Super Sports, at least in England) would have to be added to obtain the actual number produced vs. the number imported.

Even the number sold may not exactly match the number imported as it is not unknown for expensive, oddball (and I mean that in the kindest possible way) cars to sit forlornly on dealers' lots long past their "sell-by" dates.

Those may be total production numbers.
I've read before that there were 29 1988 M491 coupes produced worldwide, with 13 imported to North America.

One of those imported into the US is in Hawaii.
