Brass wheel well oil cooler and underfloor
Hi,
I have a 1970 RSR Hot Rod with a 3.2 Carrera engine in it. It has the brass wheel well oil cooler installed. I have no issues with cooling as of now. This winter I made a new underfloor that sits under the front bumper (there was one before, made by previous owner.) I'm trying to figure out if I should make the floor fit tighter against the oil cooler or if I should make a cut in the new floor as on the old floor. Or maybe just leave it as it is and see what happens? Any suggestion is appreciated? /Dan This is the hole I considering covering up: ![]() Or should I go the opposite way: Do a cut-out in the new underfloor as there is on the old one (top)? ![]() |

I guess by question boils down to if air is coming to the cooler from the front of the car or from the rotating wheels?

The tube type coolers don't rely on air flow as much as the later(and earlier) radiator types.,
Since you have no oil temperature issues, If it ain't broke don't fix it
