successful lowering....thanks guys see pics

I guess I'm jaded...but there are few things in life that go without a hitch. With all the informative posts on this board and the help of the 101 book I successfully lowered my euro carrera 0.5 inch from euro height all by myself. It is at 25 inch front and 24.5 inch rear. I then got it corner balanced and aligned....and now the car is just unbelievable. Suits my needs just fine for rare track and mostly street use. Car also got brand new bilsteins sports all around. Rides a tad stiffer than before but very tolerable. It feels glued to the road. I haven't scraped anywhere (yet) but this is as low as I'll ever go. I think its a good compromise.

THANKS EVERYONE

If those are 7's in back, get some 1" spacers to fill the wheel wells better. And yes, very nice car!

Yes those are standard 6's up front and 7's in the back. Eventually I would like 8's in the back with 7' in the front but they are getting so hard to find.

Agreed. I'd love to find a couple of 8s for mine as well, and have the centers powdercoated (or painted) GP white to match and move my 7s to the front. One day, one day...

Looks real nice. I agree w/ others who have suggested either wider wheels or spacers @ the rear.

Is yours a RoW or US model? It has the side repeaters and amber tails, but has the larger bumper guards. Just curious... looks great, either way!

BTW, where's the best place to pick up said spacers?

Later,
Mike

It is ROW. It was federalized as a new car from germany in 1985 and the bumper guards were changed then.

Cool, so it's an '84, like mine or is it an '85? Do you know where it was federalized? Mine was federalized at Brumos. The thing is, my guards weren't changed out. I'm sure each dealer that federalized cars worked differently, but I assumed they had a 'standard' to go by.

Either way, looks great, and you have me itching to lower mine the extra .5" in the front and back. Do you have a link(s) to what method you used in the rear?

Thanks,
Mike

Its an 85...last year for the grey market cars...thus it has the antenna integrated into the windshield. The previous owner was my dad's friend...so I got lucky. I know the car's entire history and it was in pristine condition ( only has 50k miles.) It was federalized by an independent Porsche shop in St. Louis, which still works on it today

Basically I followed Dempsey's 101 book verbatim as well as tips I gained from this board. I'm really happy with the results. I do have bilsteins sports though and I think this makes a difference.

You can get adapters or spacers from Boothe Design, PP, Wheel Enhancements or just do a Google search and you will find them. I would not get them off ebay as they might not fit well, some problems have been encountered by Pelican's, I believe as have read that here.

Thanks svb Ahh, I missed the 'antenna delete' from the fender. OOPS! I'm definitely still learning...

That's VERY COOL that it has such low mileage. I only thought my '84 was fairly low with 92k.

I'm sure the sports really help out. I really do love the way it looks, and I'm sure it handles quite well with the Bil sports too. I have Wayne's 101 Projects, so I'll have to look into it a little more. Light reading, right?!?!

Bill, I'm sure 8s would be a good compromise for me! However, the 1 inch spacers could fill the void until I could find a reasonable set.

Later,
Mike

Save yourself some money and headaches and just get 8's for the back, you can still put 245's on and they look just as good IMO, of course that is what I have so I'm partial.
