HELP!

I am unable to remove one of the 6mm allen bolts on the CV joint. It is rounding off the allen wrench. We have ground the wrench trying to sharpen the edges (trying not to overheat). Wrench keeps slipping. Seems like the allen bolt has been reemed out. Any suggestions?

If that particular Allen bolt is a 'goner' as far as reuse is concerned, why not use a pipe wrench or Vice-Grip on the outside ... to get it loose?

Removal would best be accomplished with a nice pair of vice-grips. Not the Sears brand either, the one and only original Porsche of hand tools the vice-grip. Good luck.

I received a reply from another list that said to hammer a 12mm socket over the allen bolt head. I tryed this and the socket fit really snug over the allen bolt. I then used a breaker bar to turn the socket. Worked like a charm.
BUT, now I am trying to remove the flywheel and guess what? I have 2 allen bolts that are stripped. There is not enough room to put the 12mm socket over the head of the bolt, so I tryed vice grips. The vice grips kept slipping. I guess it is time to invest in a decent pair. Thanks for the help.
