Floor (without carpet) pics please
All,
My driver's side floor mat is practically falling apart. I don't want to buy a new one (in fact I may take out all of the carpeting at some point for weight reasons). Under the mat is the floor, and the metal floor has some sort of sound-deadening material covering it, maybe a couple of mm thick. That stuff is cracking and coming off. I'd like to chip the rest of it off, but what do I put on the floor? Keep the bare metal? Put in one of those Rennline aluminum plates? I was thinking about putting down that black grippy tape sort of stuff that can sometimes be found on stairs (jeez I didn't explain that well at all). If you don't have carpet, could you please post some interior pics? Thanks. Oh, and I just bought the Rennline alum. drilled floorboard, which will go in this weekend. (I still can't believe they put wood down there!)

ncseahawk, Are you going to leave it like that?
ZLP, looks great. Did you chip off the sound-deadending material or did your car have none? Any concerns about dents/scratches in the floor?

I don't seem to have anything on the floor - in a '73 - at least in the front compartment.
What year cars are people finding all this hard to remove gunk in??

The early cars had a glued on rubbery horsehair kind of stuff. Perfect for trapping moisture.
The later cars have a thin asphalt(?) style that comes off in big flat chunks. I couldn't tell you when they switched over. My two points of reference are my '71 and my '83.

Duke, That looks great. Dark, but great.
ZLP, you needed a torch? My stuff is just chipping right off. In big chunks just like Todd said. Thanks all for the pics.
