Clutch Helper Arm
I am about to begin trying to reinstall the arm, under the car, with the horseshoe spring on it. When this arm slides off the car, it has tension on it and it "bucks" a little as it slides off. Reinstall instructions are not as clear as removal instructions.
Will I have trouble with this, or is it just a matter of prying/tapping it on? ------------------ '83 SC |

I have a replacement spring myself, but I haven't had the chance to put it on yet. I think you just put the spring on the shaft, get the other end on the pin on the tranny, and then tap it on. You might have to insert the shaft first, and then bend the spring, which might be a little hard...let me know how it goes

Well the arm is removed from the tranny, so the arm (with spring attached) is what needs to go back on. I suspect that tapping and prying will get it back on. I'm jsut about to start my car after three weeks, and several upgraded parts, so I'm excited.
Let me know if you think I can help with the spring removal/replacement. I had a press available, and pressed the new one on, but to get the old one off, I (after removing the tiny snap ring) put the spring in a vise and drove the pin out of the spring. This way I never took the pin off the arm. ------------------ '83 SC |
