993 brakes

How hard is it to install 993 twin turbo brake calipers and rotors on my 77 911. Any ideal how much the adapter kit is. Will they fit? Thanks for you info.

It's not hard - but it can get expensive. The Twin Turbo brakes also require 17" wheels.

Start by reading this - http://home.nycap.rr.com/wmv/generalbrmd.htm

Is this for the track or for looks.

Just follow Bill V. and other's advice and use the search. Several good threads on this.

I don't believe that the kits from Race Technology are available anymore. They were a very simple bolt on.

I am not totally satisfied that the current GTP kits are what we maight want, the GTP-L kits look promising but I haven't seen one yet.

Bill:

We've sold & installed plenty of GTP-L kits, but IMHO this is not as simple as it appears.

These require 16" wheels and 944 Turbo Fuchs on the front for caliper clearance. These still require 1/4" to 3/8" spacers with certain wheels.

Thus far, I'm not convinced that these are superior to 930 calipers & rotors; they are simply another alternative, albeit not cheap for what you get factoring their specific wheel requirements.

The 993 TT (Big Red) calipers are now long out of production so the options are more limited. The GTP's can be made to work pretty well by altering brake biasing to taste. Installing a manual brake bias valve or using different pads, F&R (of the same manufacture) has worked OK, too.
