high idle with steve wong chip
I just installed a steve wong chip in my 911. It is the correct chip to use with cat bypass and sport muffler. It runs great but my idle often settles at around 1800 rpm. It is not throttle linkage, and was not present with the previous chip which was a weltmeister. Has anyone had any similar experience? I figure it may indicate a sensor that is not working or something, but I want to figure it out because that high idle bugs. The idle is at around 1100 when I first start the car, and sometimes if I rev the engine to about 4000 rpms the idle will settle to around 1000 rpms. It is odd.

Kep, your high idle is indicative of a non working or sticking idle microswitch. When the switch does not work, the DME thinks the car is still in part throttle mode, and thus would normally show an idle of around 1800. This happens with the stock chip too, sometimes not as apparent. Your switch has likely been bad for quite some time now. Revving the engine snaps the throttle back and unsticks the switch. Sometimes it's just an overtightened linkage, sometimes the switch can just be cleaned and ungummed, or the actuator arm needs adjustment. Other times, a switch replacement is necessary. The pen in the pic points to the idle microswitch, and a test meter should be used to test activation.

I have an extra switch if you need one you pay shipping but that is my guess as well

My idle was about 1,100rpm after installing the chip. The linkage is ok and the switch checks out. I turned the idle screw all the way down. The idle seems rougher than before now at about 950.
This is a minor detail. Installing the ship got rid of some low range hesitation and seemed to increase mid range as well. jt -84 targa |
