And the asking price is?

Did they happen to mention why it was repainted?

Looks like a Fram oil filter...hmmm.

If it were in great shape and all original with low miles, the seller could expect $8 - $10K over the going price for a Carrera in your area. As it looks to be a different color repaint and is far from Concours condition but a good daily driver, I would not pay more than $2 - $3K over a similarily equipped standard Carrera. That being said, true TL's are very hard to find, and if you want an actual TL and not a conversion, you may end up looking for another one for a long time.

The engine pics don't bother you guys? for 75k miles i think it would be cleaner... but hey I dont own yet you guys do..I am in talk with the guy ...this is what he told me ...Owner indicated the car was bought from a doctor in the area a year ago and that it had all maintenance done at a porsche dealership..he has the records, he said he was getting some people at today at his house to look...so i will call him later on to see if he sold it ? of course it will get PPI, seller even indicated he would lower his price if things didnt check out...and yes it is a turbo targa factory model....checked out the vin and it checks out ...\

the color paint doesnt bother me ....i hate red anyways...

I bought my 87 TL with 88K on the clock and the engine looked about the same. The car had been well maintained mechanically, but the PO's simply were not into detailing that sort of thing. An engine compartment is not a clean environment, especially with the volumes of air sucked into it by the fan. If it is not regularly cleaned it can get pretty dusty and dirty.

IMO it just means the PO did not have the time to spend on cleaning things most people do not see, or was more interested in driving than cleaning. If the rest of the car looks good, and a PPI comes back clean, a dusty engine compartment is no issue to me.

TL don't have a specific vin number... They have an option number which can be found on the inside of the front hood. Look for turbo brakes.

the M491 option should be both on the option sticker under the boot lid, and in the owners manual. You can also verify if it is a TurboLook by calling Porsche North America and giving them the vin. They will give you a list of options sold with the car over the phone, and charge you more than $100 to get it in writing.

That's my point and that's what would eat at me - every time I open the engine lid, trunk, etc. I'd see the red paint. Not sure how the jambs look, but as stuff pulls back, red paint. Every chip on the car, underneath would be red paint.

So if it's a bargain and that does not bother you, then jump on it. But know that this reduces resale value and limits the population of possible next owners - guys like me that can't stand seeing a half-way done color change. YMMV.

I'm with you Don, I can see a little red in the wheel wells. That'll be real obvious with the first detail.

Here's a rare special model with a half done color change. I don't get it.

$16.5K obo....And no seeing red in the engine area, door jams, etc do not bother me. Having records and a clean PPI are what matter to me.

I talked the the owner's son for 30 minutes yesterday, told him the issues with the valves some of the cars have, updated cluth parts for the G-50...he was fine with a PPI and even said he would come down on the price if things dont check out.

I called back today after thinking i was being anal about how dirty the engine was, told him I would like to put a deposit on the car and schedule a PPI. I think he thinks im kidding since i am in AZ? he seemed confused and said he would call me back

I have a second pair of eyes willing to look at it and drive and give me his op on the car....

Car is in the east coast...
