Willie, the installation was pretty straightforward. An wheel adapter, from AJ-USA, is needed to mount the wheel to the column. The horn wire connected in the stock location, as is the operation of the turn signals. The wheel is a little smaller in diameter than the stock 4 spoke wheel I had. I like feel of the thicker wheel.

Is this the 930s, non-airbag wheel we're talking about?
http://images.websocietyinc.com/ajusa/old/5108960.jpg I just ordered one of these as well. ------------------ --------------- Jack Olsen 1973 911 T sunroof coupe [This message has been edited by JackOlsen (edited 05-11-2000).] |

Jack, Yes this is the 930 wheel. supposed to come w/adapter and cloissone. Installation is supposed to be straight forward. I 'm not sure how everything connects. I ordered mine just yesterday so it may be a few days. Keep us posted here .Perhaps Beagle could give us the rundown for installation.

When did you order yours, from AJ? I think we're going to need a large metric socket 23mm. Michael |

We've got the same one. I ordered mine day before yesterday, got it today. I installed the last wheel on mine, which was easy (provided you had a big enough socket wrench), but this one is being put on by my mechanic while he's doing a host of other things. So I won't be using the new wheel until two weeks from now (as I said, he's doing a HOST of things).
I looked at the wheel and the adapter, and it looked very straightforward, btw. Just the main screw-on thing and three bolts. Let me know how it goes for you. ------------------ --------------- Jack Olsen 1973 911 T sunroof coupe [This message has been edited by JackOlsen (edited 05-11-2000).] |

Good call on the wheel. I did this to my 86 Carrera and 79 turbo. As indicated you will need to use a 27mm socket with an extenstion to get to the nut. Mark the position of the nut and wheel before you remove in order to keep the alignment of the wheel with the wheels. It is a pain to have to remove and adjust. A trick there is to lightly screw on the nut, take the car out to the street to make sure it is aligned to your liking and then tighten.
Just for safety sake, disco the neg. battery terminal as removing the horn pad will scare the bejeebers out of you. Also, when you hook up the AJ wheel it will go off when you touch the ground wires. While you are at it, you may want to check out your turn signal. They eventually wear out. John |

Pretty tight, Mine has started to wiggle loose a couple of times. Don't know an exact torque spec. though. Anyway, how do you like your wheel?!
Nice? I hope? ![]() ------------------ Leland Pate ___79 SC Targa |

Noon Ca time,
Just finished, Installation is cake.Did go out and buy a new socket and a small impact wrench. Make sure the socket is not deep, or it won't fit. W/o the impact wrench it may have been a bit more difficult.I wanted the wrench anyway; already have a compressor ; you can get them for as little as $40 .Tape the horn wire up while working and it won't gound and sound! The wheel didn't line up exactly center, my choice was a couple of degrees one way or the other, but that can be adjusted next time it gets alligned. All in all very straight forward, I found using hemostats allowed me to place the washers and nuts in the adapter easily and that is an area where my fingers had a tough time fitting. Let us know... ------------------ Wild Willie 88-911 |
