tread width?

How many of you guys have 315 17s in the back of your 930. I have dunlops and they are narrower then my old bridgestones by a little more then an inch. I hate the dunlops, I am going to sell them and take a loss. I only have about 500 miles on them.

Would anyone here do me a huge favor and tell me the tread width of their 315s and what brand. I am thinking about goodyears. The BFG may be a bit too soft fot the street. Since it is a street car, I think the BFGs will be worn in 5-8000 miles. I don't have much of a choice here with that size. Thanks

Jeff

You can search the Tire Rack site by tire size and check the specs of all the tires they stock for tread width as well as section width, dia., etc.

Or you can wait for people to reply to your question here.

Yeah, I already checked. They don't have much info and it was a little off according to my measurement against my dunlops. I 'll try to post again. Thanks

That's a real pet peeve of mine. Tire manufacturers should be held to a calibrated spec. This BS of creating your own ruler don't cut it! Pirelli is the worst offender. Their 345s are 3/4" more narrow than Yokohama. Makes it real tough to get a perfect fit using actual wheel well measurements.
The bottom line is you're being ripped off when 315mm becomes 295mm. Kind of like bying a 2x4, but that's another gripe.
Rant off. Good luck finding correct information.

Rarly,

Thanks for the reply. Are you running 345 17s? I have heard good year may be the widest. I might have to start another post reword it to get a little more attention. 2x4s? Try 2x10 or 12s and up. You are really getting rip off.

The 345s were 15 inch. I'm running 18s now with the same Pirelli issue - the 315s are the same width as Goodyear 295s. REALLY pissed me off due to the money those P-Zeros command.

18"?? I just might have to go that way one day. It's coming due to the fact that there's just not going to have any tires available for us 17" guys anymore. Fat ones anyway. How does the 18" feel. Must be a bit rough on the street, but with no sidewall flex.

I decided to go 18" because of the lack of proper sized tires for 17" rims. 315/35-17s are taller than 315/30-18s.
At first I did not like the "wagon wheel" look of the 18's but it is growing on me. They look better on my car than the 15" Fuchs. The ride is actually better due to the narrow side wall. Very secure grip and precise steering.
