Different 930 brake caliper?

Hello,
I have a different set of 930 brake calipers. I did not know about that. One has larger fins than the other. Also the part # is slightly different at the end.
- Could you tell me what is the reason?
- Is it (with fin) a earlier version? If I measure one half of a caliper the difference between the thickness is nearly 10mm.
- Since I want to use them on my C1 I have to maschine the fins?
- Is it possible to run the "different set at the front? Or any bad experience?
- Is there a difference in the value of the calipers?
And finally what tire rim combo can I run? Is it possible to run a 6" in front and 7" in the rear (15" rims)?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Yetis

Later ones were less heavily finned than early ones.

They will all need to be thinned and have a small spacer in the front.

even if they fit w/ a spacer and 6 the brake is too much for the tire that would usually be used on a 6

Thanks Bill.
Do you know in what year Porsche have switched this?
So can I run different one at the same axle?
Is there a diffewrence in value - I guess no?
The 6" rim is for winter use only. I guess in 15" but I could use 16" as well. What is your tire recommandation f/r?
Thanks

No

Yes, as long as both fronts are 38/38 and both rears are 30/30

To a restorer the correct caliper is worth a lot more than to most.

I would want to see 225 on 7 and 245 on 9, that is a lot of brake and needs a lot of tire to take full advantage

Thanks a lot Bill for your recommandations.
I have started to disassembly the calipers. I have noticed small nicks on some of the piston - is there any good source for new ones? Any price suggestions?
Can anybody tell me what is included in the 930 rebuild kit offered here at Pelican?
And finally what is the best way to paint them. What colur type - a special heat one? Is there any chance to get the old look back (I like that) - not the shiny one as the new style of brakes.

Thanks a lot,
Yetis

The caliper rebuild kits typically include new piston bore seals, new dust boots, and new dust boot keeper springs.
