Question odometer

I'm a new 87' 911 owner. Recently my speedo quit working. I tapped the instrument panel and it started again. However the speedometer works ,but the odometer doesn't. any ideas?

Welcome to the board! The dreaded odo gear has gone south on you. Go to the top of this page, click the tab for "Tech Info center", and you'll find a "how to" to DIY. If not, you can send it out to be repaired for ~$100. Best of luck with your project.

You can get the gear here; It will take about 2 hours total to do yourself. Make sure you label everything on the back of the speedo before you take it out. Make sure you put the gear on the correct way!! (Don't ask). Cheers, Mike.

Thanks for the tips. Based on my skill level I'll plan a whole day.

Pelican parts can do the repairs for you. They did mine for about $150.

Thumbs up

Andy!
A whole day fiddlin' with a Porsche is not a loss. Have fun.
Mike! We won't ask...................don't have to!
On another note.... Sorta OT but thought I'd share a bit....
I'm in the middle of tearing out the last section of a non-bearing wall in my garage so I can drive! My 16' garage door AND opener went "terrorist" on me, can't budge the bastard! I can say that here, me thinks......
Anyway, when that is gone, I'll hang a sharp left and go out the 8' door. At least I've got the room.
All in a day's demolition, kinda' like you, Andy!
