Testing/Troubleshooting oil temp guage/sender...

This is my first (modern) European car...'79 SC w/3.0 ROW.

Everything runs/works, with the exception of the oil temp guage.

When testing/troubleshooting guages/senders in American cars, all you do is short out the wire from the sender to the block, then look to see if the guage pegs. If that happens, you know you have a bad sender/connection.

Is this procedure the same with the 911's senders?

Any tips for troubleshooting this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

D. Ocean
