91 c4 problems?
Thinking about replacinge my wifes car with a 91 c4 with 100k miles.....Any known problems besides the distributor vent?
Will i be able to work on the car without the software? thanks gary

possibly dual-mass flywheel and I forget if cylinder head leaks were a '91 MY issue. Best bet is a thorough PPI at a trusted Porsche specialist.
I used to wrench on my '95 993, so a 964 C4 should be workable for a Diy'er. I think there may be a couple of things that the "hammer" tester is needed for. Maybe check on the 964/993 Forum here and on Rennlist, too, for additional DiY advice.

Gary, Go to Rennlist 964 board. I believe someone has compiled a long and thorough checklist for buying a 964. You will need the engine # to see if it is past the cylinder head gasket change. You need a PPI from someone familiar with the 964 specifically. Many issues that aren't in the earlier cars, e.g. electronics, airbags, power steering and associated rack. Probably not a dealer as they are too old for many techs to have worked on. Just don't get in a hurry. Lot's of cars for sale.
