Sorry Milt. It was not your secret idea. I started talking to Ben about a straight exit 1 in 2 out to fit my 87 Carrera back in July. I ordered one that is having some final re-adjustments made to it right now.

I did have it on my car at the GAF on Sunday. I had a few people approach me (one fellow in a nice GT2) that said they thought the sound was "awsome". I can't wait to get it back!

Ah, but what you don't know is that I asked Ben to do this over a year ago. He was having some manufacturing issues at the time and wanted to just make known mufflers. So, he turned me down. Don't mean to try and top you, but I've had my pic of the GT 1 up on the wall for a long time. Of Course, Gemballa has been doing this same design for how long?? :D Longer than both of us thinking about it, I'll bet. ;)

Doh!!!

Dang Milt! I just realized I may have misunderstood your secret. I thought you meant straight exit pipes that would require trimming of the rear valance. Now I realize you meant exit through the bumper or middle of the rear body work a la GT1.

Shoot, I kind of let the cat out of the bag...

Not at all. the "secret" was suggeted by Jeff when he said, "Ben, can you make one with the tail pipes going straight back ala GT3 instead of under the valance?"

I was going to try to talk Ben into making me a muffler with NO outlets and I was going to weld on my own when I figured out the exact placement.

Milt we have done this for a bunch of customers with the best results as there is no guessing by us or the customer. It works so much better to have the car in person.

Also guys we have been making the GT3 look alikes for a while they are listed on pelican web catalog if you are curious.

Any possibility of getting a soundclip at speed or at 4K rpm?

I'll drive over to Wisconsin later today.

An additional advantage to Ben's mufflers being so light and compact is the shipping costs. To SoCal, it is less than $20 using UPS Ground. IMO that makes it cheap enough to have any custom application shipped first so precise measurements can be marked for the individual car before adding the exhaust tips.

Even with the added shipping costs, M&K mufflers are still an incredible value when compared to the other major brands.

oh man thats sounds great

Pic of my GT3 style muffler from Ben.
Next time I'll opt for slightly larger outlets and less "mufflering" inside.
It sounds good, but might almost be "too" quiet.
