964 update-3 months, 2 DEs

A lot of people seem interested in the 964 so I'll post another update now that I've gotten to know the car a bit better.

The first observations stand- A/C that works. Cruise control ( a novelty for me in a 911). 3.6 motor. All great and make for an enjoyable car.

The street observations still stand- It's a great 911. It goes fast, is easy to manuever, gets decent mileage (23-25 mpg), keeps you cool, pretty much does whatever you ask of it while providing a very acceptable ride and looking like a classic 911.

The track- Heavy. You can really feel it as compared to a 77 or a 72 (my past 911s). Not that it's too heavy, just more heavy. I took a ride in a Mini S after a session in my car and it really put things in perspective. The 964 feels like a Buick compared to lighter cars. However- my car is bone stock. With a stiffer suspension and R rubber, I believe it would be vastly improved.

Here I am in turn 5 at Road America last week.

I'm fairly new to 964 ownership myself, and I heard that Bilsten HD with H&R springs transform the car both in handling and look departments (hate SUV ride height). Overall, happy with mine as well. It is excellent daily driver as is.

Nice report. That has been my opinion on the car. If you can get a couple hundred pounds off it, it would be a stellar performer.

r rubber and different suspension and your whole perspective will change. Especially with original suspension.
