Thumbs up my 1st DE..............WOW

Did my 1st DE today at Sebring International Raceway on the long course which is 3.7 miles long. First off my SC ran great for a 23 year old girl and the brakes held up fine. I did 3 runs each 30 minutes long and it was awsome and I had a great instructor that pushed me fairly hard but not beyond my limits. I did have one "off" at fairly high speed exiting turn one but was able to save it with no damage to machine and some to my pride. I must say watching guys in the red group is very intimidating they are VERY fast! I will be doing more DE's as time and $$ allows but I can see how you can get addicted real quick.

What club were you with? PCA?

If you are looking for more track time and no not mind spending a few extra bucks Chin Motorsports runs all the South Florida tracks as well as many East Coast tracks.

I agree with all of the above, your life just changed. Now its just time between track days.

I agree the more track time the better. I did my first one about a 1 1/2 weeks ago. Did a 360 on the 2nd lap with the instructor and never left the track. Braking and downshift at the wrong time. After that I settled down (first time jitters) and had a great day. Rode with two of the instructors in a prepped Cobra Mustang. Brutal how fast they were. Have a new respect for how those cars handle. And when you "hit the line", what a rush to see how fast it can be. Plan one more time this year and numerous times next year.

Yep, just did my first with NNJR PCA this weekend at Pocono.

I can feel the money draining out of my pocket as we speak.

I decided to nix the AX and just do DE's a couple of years ago. I love to AX but the time invested vs. the driving time was not worth it anymore. I decided its just too much fun at DE's and would prefer to "waste" my weekend on a DE and drive a lot rather than a AX with 4-6 minutes of driving.

This freed up a lot of my weekends. I usually take the super hot summer months off from DE's and book a few over the winter. Less rain and cooler weather make for a better day in the car. I usually do 1 a month from October through March/ April and that will hold me for the summer.

Maybe we can cross paths this winter. I normally run my RX-7 but I am going to prep my 911 for a couple this winter and sell the RX-7... I think.

After a brutal DE in June, I have decided no more DE's after May or before November.

LOL I wish I would not have discovered it until I was older.

What was the problem with your car? I think you were speculating a sensor last week.

Glad you had fun out there! I was in running in Red driving the WRX wagon. I had a blue student with Citrus and with Suncoast the day before. It was a pretty good weekend and Citrus is a really good group to run with, especially for green students. They're really safety conscious and stress the basics. You should try to do their roebling event this fall.

Elombard you are correct last week I had a problem and it turned out to be the TPS sensor, fortunately I had a spare and 10 minutes later it was fixed, of course it took 3 days to diagnose! Wastintime I watched your Sube wagon it was a hoot to see you out there and I agree the Citrus Region is a good bunch of folks and whoever the volunteer track workers were they did a great job in VERY hot conditions. It's funny to see regular Joe Porsches, Cup cars, Sube wagons,Elise's and everything else on the track. Just goes to show the passion for cars crosses many boundaries. Maybe we should start a car club in the Middle East and it would bring peace to that section of the world!!!???

I am still not sold on this whole de thing. Break downs, Boogers every where, High speed turns, Nazi instructors critisizing all my mistakes, making mistakes, repeating mistakes, learning from my mistakes, going fast..er...

I will have to do a few more.
