Bent spindle/strut housing....can it be corrected?
While attempting to corner balace and align new track car...found that I couldn't get any better than .3 degrees positive camber on passenger side of car. Strut housing looks straight, so the spindle must be bent. Can Bilstein correct this? Can the spindle be separated and rewelded? Or should I just replace it?

Actually, unless this has already been done, this would be a great time to raise the spindles on your car! You get much better suspension action with the car lowered for racing. And, to answer your question, yes, they can be rewelded. But, before you do that, you want to know how and why this occured. Search here with terms like "raising Bilsteins" or "spindles." you know, all the pertanent words. There are a few shops that do this in a jig and it's not that expensive. Oh, you can pay more, but there are some fairly good deals if you look around. Some have even done this themselves. I'm in welding school right now after welding w/o formal training for years. That's alright for some sheet metal rust repair, but when you are dealing with a forging to tubular steel, well, let a pro do it.

There was never any spec greater than +10' [10 minutes of angle -- 1/6 of a degree] ... so most of the available adjustment has always been negative! I don't believe your strut is necessarily bent.
Why on earth would you want positive camber on the front end of a track car??? Most people want more negative than available, hence bent steering arms and offset camber ball-joints!

I think he just wrote it wrong. I'm sure he was working towards negative and got stopped at + .3, hence "couldn't get any better." That's how it came across to me, anyway.

camber issue...
Milt read it right....best we could get is 0.3 positive on right side with 2 degrees negative left. I have since found a replacement strut that differed from the one I removed by only a degree and a half difference between the strut housing and spindle. I sure hope this was the problem! For the vintage class....CP-3 I am not allowed to modify or adjust the spindle. Good idea though...
