What to do with my SC Badge

I have a tail on my '83 and it doesn't look right to me to mount it below the tail.

Looking for suggestions on what to do with the badge. I'm considering polishing it and mounting it to my glove box door but it doesn't have long enough studs to extend all the way through the door to bolt/hold it in place. Wonder if I could tack weld a couple of longer bolts to the badge to let me firmly mount it.

Appreciate suggestions/opinions related to mounting it somewhere on the car.

Thanks, Gordo

Well, you could misplace it like I did mine and then you don't have to worry about it.

Or...you could grind the posts off and use double sided tape to attach it to any surface you like, including the glove box door.

Your call either way. SmileWavy

Throw in into the shelf in the garage until you sell the car and include it in the parts bin. That's wat I did. I deleted it from the non tail decklid for a cleaner look. My 993 is also a badge delete - it's not that you have to point out what car you drive. And that also answers what I think about the glove box idea.

I don't know if you have the original decklid too, but keep that in case the next buyer doesn't like tails.

I had the same question. Decided to keep it off of the car. Looks cleaner in my opinion. Good luck

Looks better without the badge.

And with a little luck people will mistake it for a Carrera... ;)

When I installed a duck on my 82 I left the badge on the origional lid, the last time I checked it was still there.

I think the glove box door will look cool, but I second the double-sided tape idea. That way, you can remove it if you don't like it. And if you someday want to put it back on the deck lid, adhesive works there too.

Shame on you... ;)

Mine is on the rear lid just under my Carrera style tail... Left it there as I didn't want anyone mistaking my SC for one of those 3.2s :D

Seriously though, when I update my body with fiberglass I will not put it back on... Weighs too much http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

Good Recommendations

Appreciate the recommendations.

Good thought on keeping it for re-install on the original lid. I forget that I have the original lid in storage and like the idea that at some point I may give it a temporary swap out for a change of pace (I will never sell my car though).

Another great idea on the 2 sided tape. Probably going to go that way w/the glove box, will post follow up when done. I like the fact that it won't ruin the glove box cover if I decide to remove.

Yes, self gratuitious pic of my home made exhaust... Besides, that's the main view Carrera owners see ;)

No question though, Hetmann is on top of it. Sweet ride and nice touch. Would love to do it but hate the idea of chopping the original badge. Are the badges hard to come by?

Thanks, Gordo

I chopped and polished a badge I found on ebay. They are not that hard to find. My original is sitting in on the shelf, probably to never be used again.

Jerry

Can I ask for closer pics of your badge? How did you attach it? Is it mounted on something then mounted to grill or just free float attached to grill.

Thanks

Andrew

"badges ? badges. we don't need no steenking badges."

schoward 09-20-2006 12:45 PM

leave it off and keep it handy for a future use/reinstall/future owner

dont care for it on glove box either...looks a little gaudy in my opinion

You could put it on a gold chain and wear it around your neck :D :D :D
