shim location to tighten fan belt?

Hi I have a 1982 porsche sc and was wondering where the shims were located to tighten the fan belt ? I understand how the shims work, just dont know where they are located. Thanks

between the pulley halfs and outside the pulley between the nut and the outer pulley half.

Don't forget to use all 6 shims provided. The proper number used between pully halves determines desired belt tightness...and the "unused" number of shims are placed between the nut and the outer pulley. This is important so that the nut doesn't bottom out improperly ..and to prevent mechanical damage to the alt shaft and pulleys. Example: if 4 shims are used for the desired belt tighness...use an additional 2 shims under the nut.
