One high beam not working.....
Guys
I've got no power to my left hand high beam. Globe is OK, fuse is OK. Anyone know if there is a separate contact for each light within the light switch itself? Any other thoughts or guesses would be appreciated! I've got a night meeting at the track next weekend and need to work this out! Thanks ![]()

Cam,
Do you have the wiring diagram? You can download it here: http://members.rennlist.org/911pcars/WiringDiag.htm Does the blue lamp at the bottom of your tachometer illuminate with the ignition on and the turn signal switch flipped forward? If it does, try reversing your lamps left to right and see if the bad high follows the bulb. If it doesn't, use a multimeter to check the "hot" side of fuse #1, the one that does NOT have a blue wire with white stripe attached to it (the wire to the blue lamp in the tach). If no +12v there, check the wiring to the bulb: you know it's not the high-beam relay because both lamps run off a single wire to the fusebox. Good luck! In short, check Fusebox II, fuse #1.

It could also be the female Faston connector imbedded in the headlamp connector for that highbeam filament. Corrosion, looseness, fractured wire ... all are possible!
Any visible rust in that left headlamp bucket??? If so, look for traces of corrosion on the headlamp tab for the highbeam filament. Vinegar, Q-tips, distilled water, and compressed air are what I recommend to clean corroded Faston connectors. A jeweler's screwdriver can release the tab that holds the Faston captive in the plastic shell. After releasing the highbeam connector and cleaning ... slightly crimp the sides to tension the connector a bit better on the tab. After connection is re-established and the highbeam is working again ... apply Dow Corning 4, 111, or 112 Silicone Grease to the headlamp tabs and the Fastons to preclude future corrosion. ![]()
