Door Striker Question

Quick question:

What size spline drive bit do I need to remove the door striker plate? I need to go nearly across town to buy the thing and I don't want to get the wrong one. Also, because I've never seen another spline drive, I'm not going to get a set, just the one.

Thanks all.

Hal

I can't swear that all years are the same but on my '73 it's 8mm.

It's not spline drive but rather a triple square bit. Just buy the whole set; $15? at AutoZone.

Hi,
The Germans refer to this as 'XZN'.
Stahlwille has a set of 4, high quality steel, $50-60 + shipping, online.
Try Toolsource.
Hey, I like to keep it German if possible!

If you can't wait, then maybe Lisle makes a set, at your FLAPS.
Cheers,
Mitch

That's probably the correct thing to do, however, I just got back from the local AutoZone. They had a set for $4.99. These aren't even sockets. They're just the bit. You stick them in a 1/2" deep well socket and use them that way.

It was indeed an M8.

Thanks guys.
