H5 to H4 question
I've searched the archives on this and haven't found an answer. If I convert my '87 from H5 to H4 do I need to change the body-colored trim ring around the headlight, or is the ring used on the H5 the same one that is used on the H4?
Our host lists trim ring changes up to '86. I know I need to change the plug for the bulb. Thanks.

The H5 trim rings won't work on the H4's. I haven't tried it myself but that's what I was told in a thread a while ago. Here's the link:

Since the H5s were 87+ the " H4 Euro Primered Headlamp Cover Ring (1974-86)" is the finishing ring that fits over the H4 upgrade assembly. Sell the H5 ring with your H5s because it won't fit H4s.
That said, the black ring on the H5 upgrade is level with the fender when installed & I can't see why you need a finishing ring. I left mine black for now & it looks fine. At some point in the future I will paint it body color . . . or not. Ian
