Will 245/50 WR16 Avon Tech M500 tires fit '87 Carrera Fuchs std. rears?
The spec's say this tire will fit rim width down to 7.5". Will it fit std '87 Carrera rear Fuchs? I think the rear rims are about 7"?

Yes you "can" use that tire on the stock 7" Fuch, but why would you?
It is 1" too tall, does terrible things to the gearing hence acceleration of the car, and will provide you with a squishy ride.

245/45 would work, but as Bill says 245/50 is not the right choice.

The best choice for the rear of an SC/Carrera for all around use is a 245/45x16 on a 9, on an 8 will do, the Avons will even go on 7s.
The 245/45x16 is ~24..6" tall, the 245/50x16 is ~25.6" tall, way too tall for stock gearing general purpose use. I said sit not work because while the 245/45 can be fitted to a 7 it gives a squishey ride.

IMHO 245x45x16 is the way to go time after time. Agree with BV.
