engine lid stuck on 84

I installed a new rubber lip and the tail is now too far down. I can't get it to open. When I pull the release, it will pop up then it is stuck. What can I do to fix this?

try someone pulling the release cable continuously while you lift the lid at the same time then adjusting

Still better than mine when I adjust the lock mechanism. What I did was asking someone to keep pulling, pull/push, and I hug the whole tail shifting it back and forth.

Have someone pull the release cable, while you PUSH DOWN on the enginge lid at the area of the lock mechanism. this worked for me.
The engine lid SHOCKS are worn, and not strong enough to 'pop' the lid up when the cable is pulled. Change your lid shocks.

What has worked time and time again (and many of us have posted time and time again) is to drive off and onto a driveway approach at an angle. Try it from both angles and backing up the drive as well. The body flex will usually let the latch free. It worked for the lat person that posted he had a stuck lid.

The driveway trick did not work. Any more ideas?

If you're really out of Ideas you can access the bolts that hold the mechanism but you first have to remove the bumper /valence / muffler.

I was getting ready to do that at one point when neighbor man came over and we tried one last time to wiggle it loose....

If driving on and off a drive way does not work this means that the inclination is not enough for the bodyflex to work.

Do you have ramps? If you do drive the car with one side on the ramp and then pull the release while somebody else pushes the lid down and the pulls it up. You might need to try to change the side that is on the ramp.

All this is ofcourse assuming that it got stuck because you put in a new rubber strip, meaning you only talk about mm of difference.

Good luck. I feel for you. Its a PITA

I've been told that unscrewing the T-handle the cable will release and the lock will go to the side and open. Several here have said that works. Don't personally know, good luck.

True, but you need to loosen your grip on the cable so that he slides back a bit, and if he then disappears in the cable guide and the lid still doesn't open...well let us just say duh.

I moved the whole engine lid down towards the bumper by 1/4 inch. It was rubbing the snap thing for the top. I guess I moved it too much. Does the muffler would need to come out in order to remove the bumper? The ramp trick is it for the front or the rear? I assume one ramp at a time, right? How about just jacking the car up one corner at a time?

You drive on the ramp with the back wheels indeed one ramp at a time; jacking could also work but never tried that 'caus me to lazy'. Now a Porsche is not a Fiat so body flex is not much but I think it will be sufficient
