Porsche Crest 930 comparison

With apologies to wcc:

We did some maintenance work on his 87 930 today. During the test ride after, I could feel a huge difference in performance from the last time I was in his car. (If you recall, I questioned the power output and if the wastgate was bleeding off early.)We onl-y change the trans fluid and engine oil today.

This car pulled strong today with the boost guage showing .6.
Do the Turbos respond to the cooler temperatures of fall like the NA cars? I know mine was running just about perfect today.
Thanks for the help guys. I am learning more and more about the differences in Turbo'd cars versus NA version as I can working on Bill's car.
I hope to have one myself someday. (OR accidently slip one on the ol' SC one day.)

Yes turbocharged cars like cooler air period. Now the more modern cars monitor air intake through a mass air flow meter. My old '00 turbo GTi did not really gain an advantage during the cooler months because the MAF and computer metered how much air was coming in based on density. So it would put in the air equivalent from hot to cold months. The thing that it gained advantage more so in the colder months was much less heat soak in the small intercooler. Now for the old 930s I am sure they would get a nice little extra boost of hp during the cooler months.

No apologies needed Wayne. Thanks for helping & hanging out. You are always welcome at any time. For you guys that don't know Wayne he's a GREAT guy!

That being said, my car ran a TON better then it has all summer. Now I can't wait to rebuild that wastegate with a .8 spring and open up that exhaust. But the brake issues may slow me down a touch.

I just need to figure out how to adjust the mixture for hot weather compared to cold weather. I'm sure that would make a difference.
