Engineer's modified 911 RSR

Curious what the fellas who appreciate craftmanship here - think of this guys' work - which seems very impressive. Forget the appearance for the moment.

Maybe he was an "Imagineer".......

Jim Richards 09-29-2006 08:49 PM

LOL!

Duckworth 09-29-2006 10:21 PM

.....hmmm. I began the post away from home but had not completed it...and just saw when I came home that it posted anyway.

Thanks Jeremy for correcting the links.

And would some guys give a little of their feedback on this 330 horse - RSR interpretation ?

For example, look at the guys build sheet - the results seem to go beyond what you see by an individual....and he claims to have had writeup for it in a number of publications as well as Panorama.

Does the average hotrod see this level of attention he's put in the drivetrain ? Educate me.

Check it out a bit more... paint is secondary to the mechanics)

Starting bid at $99K ?

Duckworth 09-30-2006 11:32 AM

He actually 'discourages' anyone from offering money of any kind .....before they've had a chance to get to know the car. So, the $99K is just a fictitious number.

Jeremy, your signature shows you've got a 3.4 size motor... Any thoughts about his 3.4 ? Location is in the Northeast, somewhere. Anyone seen it before ?

And where are the 'other threads' about this RSR - perhaps you recall 'when' they were listed...

that interior looks straight out of a pokemon time machine (read hopped-up civic)...

Here is one thread

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/305912-heres-rather-ummmm-unique-911-ebay-auction.html

And another

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-autocross-track-racing/305882-rsr-ebay.html

Az911 09-30-2006 01:14 PM

For the amount of money it will take to make that 911 look normal again you could build 3.4L

Duckworth 09-30-2006 11:35 PM

OK....thanks to Az911, I've got a much better grip and insight on the fellow with his RSR 911.

In the one thread, Grady Clay was brought up - comparing him to A. Bittenbinder - and that was interesting since this guy is (perhaps) a mutual brethren to him in terms of the knowledge required in building and maintaining these cars. Bittenbinder is likely a highly eccentric builder/engineer without much racing experience. However.....,

Bittenbinder is conflicted about the environment - and carries 'guilt' about the climate. Meaning, he builds up these unique high perf motors -and then has trouble sleeping at night because of hydrocarbons ....Guys are out on the road burning the gasoline in his motors. This upsets him.

From his VW auction :

"But, if I may- We live in a period of almost record high gasoline prices and trending higher. Modern diesel automobiles are commanding high prices and why not? Demand for clean modern diesels has always been high and will remain especially high, as will the price of oil. ...Commit now to making an investment in a vehicle that makes a difference. A difference in the future of this country and planet as well as a big difference in your future-both in savings and personal enjoyment and pride. Whether you decide to use biofuels or not- you'll be doing your part by driving a modern clean diesel TDI wagon."

But when he has an RSR to promote, the dialog differs 180 *

"... just go forth and terrorize the universe with its awesome street performance. The sounds and overwhelming sensations give undreamed of realism to the classic Porsche ad line-"Like your own personal amusement park". I guarantee that the most mundane drive on a boring stretch of Interstate will become your own mini-LeMans behind the wheel of this 911. I am stunned and humbled by its performance, everytime I drive it. The visceral assault of the senses will challenge your sanity. If you crave intense stimulation in life, this is your Rx."

You see the dualistic or flippant nature ?? A fascinating way to look at the world (complex)..................pschology101.com
