Question Are there any Faster Fan Motors?

My fan mounted in the front luggage compartment of my 911 blows very well, but also very slow. It usually takes about 10 minutes to get a completely fogged windshield unfogged. Is there a faster (proabably non stock) fan motor I can buy for the 911?

Matt,

If you want faster defogging, use heated air. Set the controls between the seat for max heat and adjust the red-tipped dash lever to the right.

I think installing a different fan would be more trouble than it's worth, if you could even find one.

In addition to the above, crack each window about 1.5" until w/shield is clear.

I always found that using similar temperatures to whatever the ambient are was best. If it's cold outside then I used the AC on the windshield and slowly added heat as the engine heated up while gradually turning the AC down. Eventually you can kill the AC completely. If I tried to get into a car that had been sitting and crank the heat onto the windshield it would fog worse and stay that way longer.

Resistance over the years due to corrosion might reduce available voltage to the fan.

With a voltmeter, check the source voltage to the fan. The higher the voltage, the faster the rotation speed. Not sure if you can take apart the motor and clean the commutator and replace brushes.

If you have A/C, switch it ON. It removes moisture from the air and glass. Heated air will take longer to accomplish.

Does an 86 have footwell blower motors like my 87? If so your are probably not working. Mine were not and the fuseswere blown, They are located in the wiriring right next to the blower motors wich are loated behinf the carpeted kick panels by your feet. Also be sure that the hoses have not become disconnted at the blowers as this happens also.
