engine electrical panel help for 71-73 (EarlyS_Man?)

Sorting through a terrible mess of wires in my '72. I have a color '71 wiring diagram (Parts I & II) for reference. Could use the simple ID picture of all the different relays for the engine relay panel in the engine compartment. Can't find anything pre-74 in my factory manuals and can't seem to find the thread. Can someone help?

Also could use one for a 71 and 73...I'm canibalizing from a different harness and can't remember which year it is. Thanks.

Thanks, that's a start. I'll take whatever is out there. The '71 color diagram doesn't seem to correspond entirely to the colors of the harness though.

Is there a numbering convention for the 14 pin connectors? I'm going through right now doing continuity tests to help me decipher the wiring diagram. It'd be helpful to use whatever descriptive conventions there are.

ok, in the 3rd picture, #6 is a "CDI control unit capacitor"...what does it do? I can't find it in the large wiring diagram. Trying to figure out if I need it for my twin plug (2 6-pin CDI box) conversion. Thanks.

Nothing. ) There's no wire to the other side of it. It becomes a spare fuse holder. ;0

Milt,

It becomes a spare fuse holder.

That was because so many new owners bugged the Dealers about the “missing fuse” that Porsche instructed (and later installed) a spare fuse there.

Of course it is the ideal place to get power for your timing light.

Best,
Grady

...and since we're identifying random connectors, etc., what is the three pin pigtail at the rear (corner) of the panel. It looks just like the rear heater pigtail nearer the front of the panel.
