Thanks very much. |
Before you do anything, look at signaldynamics.com - 1/8th in led, plenty visible, does everything a traditional voltmeter does, no need to cut anything. Keep the clock.

coupla things...
Like I said... I did a comprehensive search and found most of the alternate aproaches being proposed here. Just me...I don't want an important instrument like a voltmeter in an area that is not almost direct line-of-sight. So...I don't want it near my ignition switch nor the easily mounted console area. THAT's where I might relocate my less-important stock clock...if at all. I also tried your link ( Greg) on the signaldyanamics page, but no amount of searching with proper keywords got me anywhere close to a voltmeter device. I did see various LED devices in my other searches but would prefer ( in order) a gauge that looks stock .....or maybe even a digital numeric call-out since the resolution would be "fine" even though a "pointer" would be better for rate-of-change. I also found this install guide interesting, since some of you brought this topic up-> http://www.egauges.com/pdf/vdo/0-515-012-068.pdf#search=%22VDO%20voltmeter%20%22 - Wil |
Sorry, Wil-http://www.signaldynamics.com/products/Modules/HUVM.asp
is the page. Yes its tiny, but the vis is very good and the resolution good as well. It mounts line of sight, in the dash or .... mine is in a clock plug under a boost gauge. |
Here is the thread I was refering to:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/214477-adding-gauges-center-console.html?highlight=gauges And another cool idea: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/237637-photoshop-tach-advice-help-needed.html |
I like rs6er's install. Also the analog needle can give a little bit of time series data. I find the LEDs hard to watch and they don't match the other gauges.
Will - I bet VDO can tell you about the lighting on the gauge. |
