Project Update: getting closer
 

I'm creeping ever closer to the non-existant finish line, and I know everyone loves pictures....so I thought I'd post an update.

Actually, since Doug's coming over tomorrow (and we all know the silver RSR standards he's got), I felt like girls often do and had to clean up the garage...which led to some picture taking :-)


First up, a gratuitous rear end shot. Kinda dark but you get the idea...

Hmmm, onto the front suspension where I've assembled some bits, but haven't gotten it all torqued into place...

Next up is the smuggler's box where I fabricated some mounts for the different fuel pump. This one was weird cause it had an odd size outlet, so I got an AN-6 adapter that goes into a check valve which then goes to the back of the car. On the inlet side is a pre-filter just in case any junk comes from the tank.

A little cover for the nasty hole left from some previous A/C unit...rivet nuts are great here, so I can unbolt this guy and get access to the fuel stuff from below...

here's the new fuel filter mounted on the inlet side of the 3.6 so I don't ahve to snake around the engine bay. On the outlet side is a Jiffy-tite quick-disconnect so i don't spill fuel when dropping the motor...

on the return side of the engine is a quick disconnect I hooked up through the reinforcement I welded previously. This should give a little more room for the electrical bundle, and it also has a quick-disconnect to pop out the motor...

That's it for now I guess...this project will never end. Can anyone say wide-body....doh! can't start thinking that way :-)

Fernando - no problem on the line-x stuff. I was pretty excited myself by the results!

as far as sharing knowledge and expertise - I'm not an expert on ANY of this, and not very knowledgeable to boot, but I can at least share what I've learned from others, and through doing some projects :-) I will say the fun part of this hobby/disease is learning with each step. I think to do another car from the ground up would require an even more extreme approach, thus extending the learning... now THAT would be a crazy car :-)

What are you doing for heat & muffler for your 3.6?

for heat I'm using the stock 993 heat exchangers, and I have the stock muffler with some tips welded on. I'll have to see how the muffler is when it's all together, maybe something new will be needed.

Oh yeah, since I removed the fresh air blower I was going to run new scat type tubing up front straight to the window defroster vents like DW SD did on his RSR. If that blows (i mean, if it sucks, hehe), then I thought about putting an inline fan in the front bay to help move the air.
