Removing Distributor
Time for my next paranoid question. Is there anything to be concerned with when removing the distributor (3.2) other than ensuring that #1 is at TDC?
I see only one bolt holding it onto the engine. Towards the right rear, it obviously connects with something else (gearing?). I would like to remove it for an inspection and cleaning, but would just like confirmation that I am seeing all of the removal details clearly. Thanks... ------------------ Roger '85 Carrera 3.2 Coupe aka "Sputterbug" http://www.rogerplacer.net/911/ |

Ropger:
Just prior to loosening that one bolt, and removing the distributor, mark the location of the "tang" through which that bolt goes. That way, you can remove and replace in the exact same spot, and you will not have changed your timing. Otherwise, you have to go and adjust your timing, by twisting the distributor until the timing is correct, and then tightening that one bolt. It's easy, just be careful to mark and don't change your timing.......Andras |

Along with setting the engine on tdc, take the dist. cap off to be sure you get the rotor back in the same position on reassemblt. Then you will be ok.
