Ever Install 118db Hella Horns
Planning to use the relay provided since I have an early car. I'm tired of my little Targa being invisible. I'm curious if they're too loud?

They're horns, no such thing as too loud. You can still tap the button and they'll "toot" so they only blast when you really want them to.

What do these Hellas cost?
I commented on another thread that the horns on my '86 951 were very noticeably nicer sounding and louder than the ones on my 911. At some point I will look into getting some off a parted out 944/951. Should be very cheap....and if I'm lucky a true bolt up swap(?)

These horns at Griots ar 69.99 - so elsewhere they are probably 10-20% less.
BTW - many have 951 honrs for sale new.

I just wonder what Oklahoma Foreign, 944 Ecology or PartsHeaven would charge for a set of used 951 horns? Why buy new ones?
I had an '87 944 and later an '86 951 and I don't remember the 944 horns sounding the same...or is my memory going? Were they different than each other?

They seem to be the same price no matter what catalog I find them in.

I too saw those in the Griot's catalog and like them. Was considering them myself. Small and neat.

It's an actual train horn mounted in that big roof box. There's times I wish I had one strapped on my roof ....

I put a 140db "Freeway Blaster" to replace one of the horns on my car. (less then $15) I've seen people change lanes without hearing the horn. People HEAR me on the freeway.
I have to admit that I've always wanted a horn that is a semi's airhorn combined with a very loud recording of a jake brake. I can just imagine the people fighting to get out of your way!

I put these air horns on my Harley. Compressor fit under the seat.
128 db!!! I could use louder still for half the monkeys on the road. Have to use them every time out. ![]()
