hard starting
I am experiencing a hard starting problem with my 1979 911SC lately.
The symptoms starting happening about one month ago and I had changed out the entire ignition system with new cap, rotor, Bosch CD box and Pertronix coil. The car started missing badly after running fine for one month and then one day completely failed to start leaving me stranded. I replaced the coil with a stock Bosch unit and it started again successfully. I also replaced the wires with Clewett engineering units. However, I still notice a lack of power above 5000rpm and now it is difficult to start when cold. It needs to be cranked after 4 times before it will idle and run. If I let it warm up and then shut it off it fails to start again. Can anyone suggest the problem. Is it possible the new Clewett wires are bad? This is now the only items not stock OEM Bosch components. |

Could your ignition be arcing somewhere? I'd look for a short or loose ground. Maybe a bad connection between a wire and spark plug boot.
I'm grasping at straws but that is what I would do. I wouldn't be too quick to blame the new parts. Glenn

Just thought of something else... is the cap fully seated?
